MALAYSIAN POLICE RECEIVE NOISE COMPLAINTS CAUSED BY POKEMON GO PLAYERS

A team of Malaysian police officers conducted a check in George Town, Penang and caught a few Pokemon Go players for creating noise disturbances and traffic obstruction in the area.

George Town district police chief Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said residents lodged complaints claiming that the activities of Pokemon Go players have disturbed the peacefulness of the area.

"I have instructed traffic police personnel to issue summonses to players whose vehicles or motorcycles are parked haphazardly on road shoulders, causing traffic congestion here," Wahid told The Straits Times.

He added that the police have advised the players "not to make so much noise" which could disturb peacefulness in the area around Lebuh Acheh.

"I do not see anything wrong in playing Pokemon Go, but we will advise them," he said.
